About

My name is Sabrina, but you may know me as RhodeyGirl.

Although I now live in Philadelphia, a piece of my heart will always remain in Rhode Island.

After growing up there, traveling the world, and getting married in July 2009, I am finally ready to begin the domestic life- the right way. For me, that translates into hosting lots of dinner parties and experimenting in the kitchen with new and fun foods.

I believe that local, organic, wholesome ingredients are the ones we should put into our bodies. Entertaining while maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be difficult, but with the proper tools it does not have to be so. Follow me as I test healthy recipes from the many cookbooks I own and blogs I read, as well as experiment with the recipes that come to me through living my daily life, whether it be using up everything I have in the fridge or thinking about and calculating what items would make a great dinner.

I hope to share my successes and failures with you in the kitchen and in life.

Lovin’ life… lovin’ food. That’s RhodeyGirl.

  1. Hi! Just drop by to say hi…we, as a couple, also love to cook to ourselves, the difference is, we are married. :O Same as you, we also want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep fit. My husband, CY has already lost 10 KGs since we started cooking!

Good luck to you and wish you & phillyboy all the best!

    thanks caitlin! much appreciated!

  4. I saw the name of your blog on VeggieGirl’s blog and wondered whether you were really in RI, and you are! I’m in Wisconsin but graduated from HS in Cranston, and my husband is from Warwick. So few people here can even find RI on the map, it’s cool to see someone from “home” online. And I like your blog!

  5. Sabrina,
Just found your blog!! Love it. I am new to the whole blogging thing. I have a mostly vegan blog. Love to test recipes too and am also maintaining a 35 lb. loss over the past 3 years. Can’t wait to read more of your blog on regular basis. Will be putting you on my blogroll.

  6. I totally agree that foods taste and feel better when they are local!!!

  7. This sounds like the plot of a convoluted novel by Italo Calvino. In an Extreme sort of way.

  8. We have very similar food philosophies!!! I just thought I’d stop in and say hi! I love your blog!

  16. Hello! I just found your blog and I love it! Your recipes look incredible!

  17. I think you mentioned your worked from home…do you work with food in your everyday job? I was just curious what your profession is – not sure if that’s too personal a question!

  18. M- No, I do not work with food in my work, but I wish I did! I am a buyer for a small company in R.I., and work from home now in Philadelphia! Thanks for reading!

  19. Rhodeygirl,

I just watched your first video on the Falafel. My mouth was watering! I can’t wait to try it out myself. I used to think the best Falafel was made in Jerusalem, but now it looks like it is in Philly. By the way, you look exactly like my daughter in law, you could be her twin!

  20. I just found your blog, and I LOVE it. I’ll be adding you to my blog roll, if you don’t mind. 🙂

And baked falafel will be put on my menu plan soon for sure! I love falafel, but not that it is fried; this will be perfect!

  21. Sabrina- Random question. Did you go to Providence College? You look JUST like the super nice girl who gave me a tour in the fall of ’03…

  22. Lauren- Yes, that was probably me!!! I did go to PC!

  23. Hey girl, thanks for commenting on our blog. We have enjoyed reading your blog…look forward in getting to you!!!

  24. I am happy to finally find a blogger based in Philly! I am a student at Temple (but also spent a year at PC..coincidence!) so will be interested to hear about your favorite eats in the city!

  25. Sabrina, this blog is simply great!
    Love from Italy:)

  26. Dear food girl. It was fun meeting you at the air port and you thinking I was going to the food festival/convention. I was the guy that was super excited about his mouth watering bagel sandwich. Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. Anyway glad you got a kick out of it and just wanted to let you know you had a nice blog. Hope your food convention went great, Salut!

  27. Kirsten- HI! What a coincidence! Thanks for reading!!!

    Nicoletta- Grazie tanto bella!

Bagel_Sandwich: HI! Sorry to hear your sandwich was mediocre. Airport food usually is. Thanks for the nice compliment, and happy eating!

  28. Hi Sabrina,
So good to see your face! What a great blog!!! I will be making your baked falafel on New Year’s Day. Sounds delish.
    Give my best to PB.
    Happy 2010!

  29. As a fellow Philadelphian, I am so excited about your blog!!! It’s awesome to find people from the area as excited about food as I am!!

Thanks for sharing such great recipes with us all!
