Counting again

Have you guys seen this Self article? Really interesting actually. I feel like when PB and I get married this will be what I’ll want to do every week, except not to this extent. and well, let’s face it it probs won’t happen. I hope to be able to plan out meals ahead for a week instead of just buying what I intuitively think I need and then making up recipes as I go along. Some people might think that is better and more advanced (because, well, let’s be serious, it IS) but I think it would be nice to just take the thinking out of it all. Plan it all ahead and then you just know what to cook every day. Kind of like my exercise schedule. I don’t just decide what I feel like, I have a planned schedule that I pretty much stick to. Anyway, a girl can dream.

This afternoon for snack I had pumpkin yogurt (Kath’s recipe) with 10 g slivered almonds, 1/2 serving honey graham sticks, and 7 g mini chocolate chips.

Pretty detailed ay? That’s because I am counting calories again. I am not obsessive about it in any way, but I want to keep track of my intake in calories as well as different nutrients and such. I am trying to have more whole foods in my diet and it is hard to know if I’m successful if I am not writing my food out somewhere. Also, as I mentioned last week the scale was up a lb (which is gone, by the way), and I don’t want that to happen again. I want to be losing! not maintaining or slightly gaining. I don’t mind this because I have goals to reach, and tangible numbers = good for reaching goals!

anywayyyyyyyyyyyy, on to my day. After work I went home to do my errands and then headed to the gym. I got on the treadmill for 35 minutes and did about 3 miles (the first 2.5 were between 6.5 and 8.0 and then I did the last 1/2 mile between 3.5 and 4.1). Then I alternated leg exercises and jumping rope for 25 minutes. My body is so tired!

After a shower and such I had an amazing dinner. A sliced cucumber and a sliced tomato, plus a portobello mushroom and olive spread sandwich on Arnold’s sandwich thins. Have you tried these? They are amazing!

Oooh and dessert? A yummy orange and a big cup of tea.

Question: My washing machine is not draining my clothes all the way, so when I go to take them out they are sopping wet. Anyone know how to fix that problem?!

I’m off to bed! soooo sleeeeeeeepyyyyyy!

  2. I wish I knew but I’m SO inept at stuff like that. I hope you find counting useful. I totally understand, I do it a lot too and I don’t even mean to. I also feel better weighing out certain foods. Whatever keeps us sane! πŸ™‚

  3. Oh no about the washer! I have no idea.

That Self article is great! Thanks for the link πŸ™‚ I want to be like that too. I kind of am now, to a certain extent… but hopefully at some point I won’t be working as much as I am now and I’ll be able to spend more time doing stuff like that.

    Have a great night!

  4. Great self article- thanks for sharing! Your recipes always look so amazing, sometimes you even manage to make the ones you test look better than the originals (but shhh, don’t tell them I said that πŸ˜‰ )
since you’re counting again (sometimes a good idea to stay on/get back on track) would you mind posting the nutrition info? thanks so much

  5. I hope I receive the latest issue of SELF in the mail soon – sounds like a great article!!

Ahh, so sorry about the washer 😦 Wish I could help!!

  6. I wish I could plan out meals like that, but I eat similar everyday, with some changes in spices and flavors, so maybe I already do πŸ™‚

Don’t worry too much about the scale and one pound. On any given week, water can fluctuate 2-4 pounds in any direction. When I did a bodybuilding show, I lost 8 pounds of water… yup 8!

  7. I’ve been thinking of counting calories again too. Mainly, just for a check since I seem to be losing weight still and I’m curious if I am within, under or over my CK net.

Did you ever take a pic of the packaging for the sandwich thins? Sounds perfect for me! What part of the store did you find them – with the bread?

  8. becky- the thins only have 100 cals. here is the link to them: http://arnold.gwbakeries.com/product.cfm/upc/7341013547

you can find them with the breads!
